Ivan Soltesz, Sang-Hun Lee, and Ivan Marchionni describe that GABAergic, parvalbumin expressing basket cells preferentially target specific subsets of pyramidal cells, while being selectively excited by other subsets, demonstrating nonuniform perisomatic inhibition of hippocampal output channels.
